Senryu & Nudes by Marc Awodey Senryu & Nudes, a new book of poetry by Marc Awodey, juxtaposes drawings of nude figures with senryu, a Japanese style of poetry. Like haiku, senryu is a short form of poetry that consists of three lines with seventeen or fewer phonetic units. Unlike haiku, where the subject is nature, senryu trades in the foibles of man, treating its subject with dark humor and cynicism. The original drawings will be on view at Kasini House gallery from August 21st to September 27th. Please join Kasini House and Marc Awodey on Thursday, August 21st from 6-8PM for the opening reception of the exhibit and the launch of the book, Senryu & Nudes. at Kasini House Gallery |

Also from Kasini House Books Kasini House is pleased to announce the publication of David Sokol's The Golem of Church Street and the opening of his exhibition of twenty-four prints from the book. In the tradition of Honoré Daumier and Francisco Goya, Sokol uses printmaking as a means of reflection and comment on a new and emerging anti-Semitism. In words and images, Sokol reflects upon social, political, and cultural phenomena that objectify the new anti-Semitism. From Farfour the Martyr Mouse to Jimmy Carter’s relationship with Sheik Zayed bin Sultan al-Nahyan, Sokol uses satire and caricature, humor, sadness, and irony to nudge the reader into thinking about these complex issues. click here...for more details |
